Bedtime Oddities

So for the longest time I dreaded moving Judah into Ransom's room, 'cause I knew the adjustment period would be long and rough. Well, I think we're through it!  Those funny little boys have developed the strangest bedtime routine, but it works! Who am I to mess with it?
It typically works like this. After everyone's all jammied up and we've sung and prayed, out go the lights, Ransom hops into his bunkbed, and Judah and I settle into the rocker to nurse. But he rarely nurses to sleep anymore, so I plop him into his crib and take my leave. Then I listen amusedly to the monitor as they play out their bedtime drama. Judah will start to whimper a little, and then begin a good solid cry. Just then, Ransom will yell "NO NO NO NO!!" Judah quiets down. Minutes pass. Judah begins to whimper again. "NO NO NO NO! STOP!" Quiet. Repeat. After 10 or 15 minutes, they both fall asleep!
The most entertaining part about it is that, the other night, Judah would not stop crying. After a few minutes I went in to check it out. Problem: Ransom had already fallen asleep, and so wasn't yelling at him!
What funny little shorties.

  1. I love this! I have been dreading putting the girls in the same room too.

    1. I won't deny - the transition was rough! So glad it's over with. Though I've only attempted daytime naps together once so far, I think I'll continue putting that off for as long as possible. :-)
